Sculpture is a compulsion, from the
minute a flash of inspiration enters a sculptor's psyche, from who knows where, a sculpture
clamours to be born.
It may take months or years to realise but it is always there, patient
but insistent.
As with stone carving, the process of bronze casting is slow and
meticulous but the thrill of modelling the piece and working with the
foundry to achieve the vision is incomparable.
No art can be more labour intensive nor more rewarding.
My work is conceived as an emotional response to a shape, line or sound,
usually in the natural world. For many pieces the concept is of
regeneration, new birth and the accompanying message of hope.
